Ontario hydro one rate increase

It is possible to get to a 300% increase if one goes back to the start of the McGuinty led Liberal government, and only uses the blended rate from that time ($0.043 per kWhr) and the On Peak value of today ($0.18 per kWhr). That figure would be an increase of 318.6% over the 2003 rate, but not the 2013 rate.
That’s according to Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller, who is responding to the recent news that Hydro One might be increasing delivery rates by nearly $150 in 2018. Miller says the province needs to get a handle on how the money is being used by the energy provider.

On page 2038 of the application, we learn that Hydro One wants to install prepayment meters, which require the customer to pay first before they get any electricity.
What this means of course, is that we start paying the highest price for hydro 400 kw hours earlier each month than we did a year ago. So the price of that 400 kw hours each month actually rose from 5.6 cents per kw hour to 7.5 cents per kw hour. Time of use customers did not fare any better on May 1st.
